How We Review UK Casinos — Our Six-Dimension Methodology

Our UK casino reviews are produced using a six-dimension evaluation framework applied uniformly to every operator. This page documents exactly how we arrive at our rankings and why certain operators are in our promoted top 10 while others sit in the tier 2 directory.

The Six Dimensions

1. UKGC Licensing (Pass/Fail)

An active UK Gambling Commission licence is a non-negotiable requirement. Any operator without a valid UKGC remote gambling licence is excluded automatically, regardless of what other qualities they might offer. We verify licence status via the UKGC’s public register at gamblingcommission.gov.uk/public-register before publishing any review, and we re-verify active licences periodically.

• Realistic expiry windows (30 days plus)
• Clear, non-confusing terms

4. Withdrawal Reliability

5. Regulatory History

We review each operator’s UKGC enforcement record. Fines, licence conditions, public warnings and other regulatory actions are all factored in. We also monitor Companies House filings for the operator’s UK-registered entity, including any insolvency proceedings or auditor concerns.

6. Product Quality

Finally, we evaluate the actual product — the interface, the mobile experience, the customer support, the onboarding friction, the stability. This is inherently subjective but we apply a consistent rubric:

• Onboarding — time from landing page to first spin
• Navigation — can the user find Rainbow Riches within three clicks?
• Mobile parity — does mobile UI meet desktop UX?
• Support hours and channels — live chat availability, response times
• Reality checks and responsible-gambling UI — where tools are and how easily they can be used

How Scores Translate to Rankings

Each dimension is scored and weighted. The composite score determines tier placement:

• Tier 1 (promoted top 10) — composite score at or above 8.8/10 across all dimensions with no red flags in any single dimension.
• Tier 2 (reviewed, non-promoted) — composite score 6.5 to 8.7/10, or any single dimension scoring below 6.0, or unresolved regulatory action within the last 12 months.
• Excluded — any fail condition (no UKGC licence, active regulatory suspension, etc.).

Rankings are reviewed quarterly and updated as material changes occur (licensing actions, ownership changes, substantial product changes). The full directory shows which tier every reviewed operator currently sits in.

What This Means Commercially

We only take affiliate commission from tier 1 operators. Tier 2 reviews exist for completeness and transparency — so we can cover the full UK market honestly — but we don’t earn anything from them. This structural separation is how we maintain editorial independence: our commercial interest is aligned with only the casinos we’d genuinely recommend.
